Affirmations

Affirmations are sentences that focus on positive attitudes and attributes. Reciting them repeatedly on a daily basis reduces the impact of distress and increases our ability to handle challenging situations by creating new pathways in our brains and changing our mindset.

Neuroplasticity lets the human brain form connections that literally change our wiring and our thinking. Affirmations start with “I” or “My” and are in the present tense. Keep them real. We have some examples for you and you can have fun creating your own in Reflections.

Habits

Affirmations work best when they are part of your daily routine. Take a moment now to schedule a time to recite your positive affirmations. It’s usually best to do this first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Rate your anxiety levels from 0 = none to 10 = Extremely High in your Clanbeat Reflections. Recite your affirmations every day for 30 days and see if they have made a difference. You can also do them at unscheduled times, i.e. on the bus, during a break.

Pick one each day and repeat it to yourself during the day.

I am relaxed and calm.

I am enough.

Just like before, I’ll survive this situation.

As I take a deep breath, all my muscles relax.

I am learning for myself.

I am not my past.

Even if I fall back one day, I won’t be stuck forever.

I know this situation is hard, but I’m strong and will get through it.

I’ve got this!!

This too will pass.

I am not my past and I will not bring it into my future.

Today is a new day and I am open to joy.

I can do this.

I forgive myself.

I am worthy of good things.

I’m unique. I’m loved. I’m important.

I am my own best friend, and I am kind to myself.

I am ready to release what doesn’t serve me.

I am letting go.

I know this will take time, but I am taking steps in the right direction.

I am not pulling against my fears and worries. I witness them and let them pass.
